Need an EU Responsible Person?

What exactly must the listing show?
Four things, clearly visible before the customer buys: the manufacturer's identity together with a postal and an electronic address; where the manufacturer is not established in the EU, an EU Responsible Person and their contact details; information identifying the product, including an image; and any safety or warning information, written in the language of the country where the product is sold. A link buried in terms and conditions does not satisfy the requirement.
Do I need an EU Responsible Person?
If the manufacturer is established in the EU, the manufacturer itself fills the role. If you sell into the EU and the manufacturer is outside it, the product cannot be placed on the market unless an economic operator established in the EU — an importer, or an appointed authorised representative — is responsible for it. This generator writes the listing text; appointing that person is a separate legal arrangement, typically arranged through a provider for €120–200 per year.
What happens if a listing doesn't comply?
The major marketplaces have integrated the requirement into their listing checks and can remove listings that miss it, and market-surveillance and customs authorities can stop products that have no EU Responsible Person on record. The practical consequence for a seller is delisting first, and border problems second.
